Economic
Development & Employer Services Committee (EDES)
Composition:
Economic Development and Employer Services Committee of the
WIB. The chair of this committee shall be a member representing
private business or a local economic development agency. The
committee is comprised of representatives of the Alameda County
Workforce Investment Board, including those representing mandated
partners. The chair is selected from the Committee membership
and appointed by the WIB Chair. The Vice-Chair is selected
by the EDES Committee.
The
Economic Development and Employer Services Committee shall
develop strategies to train workforce participants for jobs
that will provide long-term career paths; coordinate labor
market studies; provide the WIB with information on emerging
market trends; provide guidance regarding Individual Training
Accounts (ITAs), the Eligible Training Provider List, and
employer services in the One-Stop Career Centers; recommend
changes to the workforce investment system in order to improve
employer satisfaction with employee recruitment, retention,
productivity, and profitability, and other outcomes; and develop
strategies to enhance the responsiveness of the workforce
investment system to the needs of local businesses.
