Youth
Policy Council
The
Alameda County Youth Policy Council is a legislatively (WIA)
andated subgroup of the Workforce Investment Board (WIB).
This 18 member council is jointly appointed by the Workforce
Investment Board and the Board of Supervisors. Membership
includes representation from the WIB, juvenile justice, law
enforcement, education, labor, public housing, parents, youth,
community based organizations, and other entities with interest
and expertise in youth policy. The Youth Policy Council is
charged with developing youth employment and training policy
and practice, recommending youth service providers to the
WIB, conducting oversight of local youth programs, conducting
oversight over a $1,000,000 grant on behalf of the County
of Alameda, and broadening the youth services focus in the
community.
