Skill Maintenance Requirement
Moderate. Manufacturing processes change as technology changes, requiring new working procedures for Precision Assemblers. Remaining current is often accomplished by taking short courses or getting informal training from co-workers.

Experience Prerequisites

It is typically necessary to have experience as an Assembler prior to becoming a Precision Assembler. This experience is often obtained while being an Assembler at the same company, with a promotion leading to the Precision Assembler position. A certificate can be used as a substitute for experience.

Education/Training Required

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Some employers require relevant trade school or junior college coursework. While a certificate will improve someone's chances of getting a job in a competitive job market, an individual course might be sufficient at other times.
